Biota productive
Communities that are present in the region showed the paradox of how biota productive ecosystems present among the poor. The intake of food that comes from a clear surface will not be enough to sustain this very rich community. Sulfide solution coming out of the vents may be the only answer. Types of certain bacteria derive energy from the oxidation of sulfides. When sulfides released from the vents, the bacterial population to grow in large quantities, both the water column and stuck to the rock and mud around the ventilation holes. The bacteria is the primary feed source for shells, by filtering bacteria from water column, as well as limpet snails and crabs, by way of grazing layer of bacteria attached on the surface of rocks or mud.
